sphagnum moss

does anyone use this on emersed pieces of wood in their riparium? im planning on setting mine up soon and want some of the wood below water with anubias etc and some above water with moss. im not sure if the java moss would go very high up because it would dry out. but im not sure it would be too dry for sphagnum moss either.

You might be able to use some of the sphagnum fibres as a 'wick' to draw moisture up further above water level to get java moss or whatever to grow there.

If you are looking to actually grow sphagnum moss, I believe that needs really wet conditions. Poke around on some of the carnivorous plant sites, a lot of them use sphagnum, and some even have live sphagnum in their setups.
