Sure some of those low tech's look great, but the best ones are filled with easy growing plants that don't require a whole lot.. Most of them dosing excel have a much better look. Once I tweaked my lights I had no more problems with algae. Now increased lights with the addition of a T8 to T5NO and starting to have problems. Thus got tweak it.

When I had algae problems I did the same thing lowered the photoperiod and raised the light fixture.
