I don't think this tank could have enough water depth for a fully aquatic newt like a fire belly or Eastern. Marbled salamanders you would probably never see because they are so shy.

Glass is usually easily aquired at your local ACE or Home Depot store and they will usually cut it to the size you desire. If you get 1/8" to 1/4" you really don't have to be concerned about it breaking.

Mom has decided on a marbled salamander. Since they are more of a nocturnal shy sp. it works out just fine since she will be working late nights. There will be no need to divide the tank now. : )

Well I did some digging.. Turns out Marbled Salamanders are illegal in Ca...SO I am back to square one.
I found some really cute little lizards at a local pet shop.. The girl there had no clue how to care for them... So Im hopeing I can dig up something on them.. They are called Tanzania Flying Lizards. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Anyone have any clue how to care for them? |

Looks like those lizards are Holaspis guentheri, they apparently go by a billion different common names, so you'll be better off searching for the latin name. From what little info I can gather, it looks like they need AT LEAST 18 inches of height, and preferably bigger than that.
You might have enough space for a mantis, provided you added a lot of perches since it's a glass tank. Psst, you could always go with millipedes. |

Oh I figured out what they where threw LLL Reptile. One of the workers there used to breed them believe it or not. The cage I have is perfect for a trio (1 male, 2 females), but they have a high heat requirement witch I can not meet with having chinchillas in the same room. The tanks still sitting in my room empty and looking lonely haha. I really wanted to do salamanders, but CA has all these crazy laws on them, and the ones that are legal here, get WAY to big for the tank I have. I am thinking of possibly turning it on its side, sealing in a glass plate where the screen top is, and turning it into something cool. Millipedes would be cool if the ones I like where not so darn pricy (75$ per millipede.) Then again, if my friend gets hers breeding she may give me babies free of charge. What I would love to do is put a colbolt blue tarantula in it, but after talking to one of my managers who used to own one, I decided against it seeing how aggressive they can be. |

Found out what they are threw LLL Reptile. They are very rare in the pet trade, and care sheets are even rarer. I got lucky and one of the workers at LLL used to breed them. |

How about firebellied toads? I think they're really small and only need 4 inches of water.
for the divider I'd go with acrylic which would be lighter and durable. How many inches of water does that thing allow? |

Personally I am not a fan of them. I had them when I was a small child, not the most exciting pet in my eyes. |

So I am wondering, if I reseal the tank with aquarium sealant, the same grade used to make aquariums, put in a glass panel right before the screen top, and use the same sealant. Would it be safe to hold water long term?
I am thinking of turning it on its side, so that the door opens to the back, and turning it into just a planted wonderland. |

Id really like to get this done before new years, if it will hold water if I re-seal it. Does anyone know if its possible for it to hold water after I re seal it? |

id lean more to pdf or something thats a nice tank for them imo, use a pump to make a waterfall or hook up 2 spray/misters hidden in the front corners with 90º heads get the "seconds" timer from misk king and set up your background how ever you want plants/cork/waterfall etc. set it up right you prob have little work other than making food for them. ive really been wanting to set up a 46g bow that i got for free and trying these guys*azureus*http://www.dendroboard.com/forum/car...us-novice.html. cant say they dont look awesome can ya :p
if you wanted a tank that size to hold water prob cheaper just to get a new one during the petco sales ? |
