Sand residue on plants!

Recently I decided to add/change my substrate and added flourite sand. Mainly due to not having the necessary space, equipment, and time (and lazyness), I did not rinse the sand before adding it to the tank. The sand settled and the cloudiness has disappeared. This was approximately a week ago.

The issue I'm having is that some of the particles of sand (very fine parts of it, as there are bigger chunks that succesfully rest on the bottom) have settled ontop of the leaves of a lot of my broader plants. I do a 10% water change every other day right now and try to shake off some of the residue on the leaves and siphon it off, though it is going to take several more weeks. My cory cats like to perch on these leaves and just generally play on them, which tends to clean off the leaves as well.

I am curious if anyone has had any experience with residue on their plants, and just how detrimental is it to photosynthesis and nutrient absorption?

I just switched my substrate to Fluorite sand too and experienced the same thing. A couple people here suggested a turkey baster, and it works awesome. I simply use it to blow off the sediment wherever I need. I'm still playing around in the tank, so make a mess with the sand, but the baster is so quick and easy to clean it off.
