Question

55g lighting

now, i have had an aquarium for as long as i can remember, so fish keeping is easy to me. the one thing i have never been able to do is keep a planted aquarium. i currently have a 55 gallon tank with an oscar jack depsey and a pleco, but i will be moving soon so i will need to start from scratch. my new plan is to have a heavily planted discus tank, as i have always wanted discus. the big thing that is confusing me is the light requirements. they say 2 or 3 watts per gallon. by that math i would need 110-165 watts. started looking into it, and it seems difficult. any tips or tricks?
