Banana Plants!!!
Are awesome.
Just want to put that out there. I'm slowly but surely building a better tank and right now I need better lighting and some CO2 but in the meantime banana plants are making this guy feel pretty good about himself because these guys grow. I have one that has "lily padded" the top of the tank and all of them are rooting out and into my dirted tank. I highly recommend these to low tech planted tanks "noobs". This is definitely a plant that will help me maintain my planted tank status. That is all. |

XD I got mine wayyyy back... I've totally forgotten about it... whether it's still alive or which tank I've put it in *blush*
thanks for reminding me they are pretty cool. I dont like the lily pad effect and prefer to have them short and submersed. |

Lol it wouldn't surprise me. He always thinks he starving or something. Munches on my bacopa, pulls out leaves on the crypts, took chunks out of frogbit. I tried to give his snail in the tank a small piece of spinach, he yanked it away and ate it... Brat
I acquired a small sad banana plant for free BEFORE I realized he was the reason my plants had holes... Plopped it in to float it before I planted it. Came back and one of the two leaves it had was floating on the top, the stem missing, I figured maybe it was fragile and had fallen off. Went to my computer and checked my email, out of the corner of my eye Lord Baelish swims up and attacks a root! I watched as he gobbled it up.... what a fatty... So, as cool as banana plants are... When I get another one, it's going in a different tank. Hahaha

i have had them do really well, and then stop doing well for no real reason. once i let one throw up lily pads, and when i trimmed em off they would grow roots, but they never threw up any other leaves.
but they are cheap and easy and good for low-light, so i dont mind replacing them yearly in my betta barracks if they die.
