Long Island Sound rocks

Has anyone in the NY area used any rocks from the LI sound in their freshwater tanks?

I have some rocks I picked up off the beach in Montauk. I think that's not exactly the sound, but no problems and they've been in and out of tanks for years. Just as accents though, I've never used them as sole substrate.
