Ok so I decided that my air stone wasn't doing a very good job at distributing my co2, since it would just float to the top in medium bubbles. Let me know what you think of my new idea. Just click on the video.

Works fine; many people use this method as well.

The only caution is that the CO2 may eventually cause the plastic in the water pump/impeller to harden with time.

Ok, well I am sure that I can find replacement parts eventually, or craft my own pump. Thanks for the heads up though. Oh, how much time are we talking about. Like a couple of weeks, months, or a few years?

It would depend on the bubble rate, but I would say on the order of years.

Well I don't have a bubble counter on this, but I did see a way of making one out of a check valve and a syringe that I might try. Since I am still trying to get this down I want to spend as little money as possible.

I think the bubbles are not hitting the impeller in this setup Darkblade48.

I have noticed deposits forming on venturi hole and exit port, so it's VERY VERY important to clear holes with a toothpick and swab off detrius gunk on a biweekly basis at least.

Yeah, after I posted the question about the amount of time it would take I realized that the CO2 is entering after the internals. But I will make sure to clear anything out of the exit port.

I would run the CO2 into the inlet of the powerhead instead of in that weak venturi. The goal is to chop up the CO2 bubbles into very tiny bubbles, so they don't float up nearly as fast. I've done this with several powerheads and none of them have shown any damage due to the CO2. The way you have it now is a big improvement, but a bigger improvement is running it through the powerhead.

Ok, sounds doable. I recently put more plants in so when they get a good grip on my substrate I will mess with the pump. Just don't want to jostle them around too much.

looks good i want to run mine into a cannister filter. when i do one so it has time to break down.
