Stupid Dario Darios

Got a pair of Dario Darios for my 7g 3 weeks ago...actually not sure if one is female until this morning they did the "friendly hug" after water change with subdued lighting. It lasted like 30 mins. Then the female got ejected :P

The male has been super aggressive against everyone in the tank including the female. Looks like it might get worse as he has something to guard now...o well, I dun really see any eggs but they are supposed to be super small.

Dun really think I will see any fries but the process was fun to watch

nice, what have you been feeding them. I have a bunch here but haven't seen them mate.

Very cool. I have been giving serious thought to moving the few tetras I have in my 7 gallon to my 20 long and getting a few Scarlets. I have been a bit worried about their feeding but I am hoping to find some captive breed ones that will eat frozen food.

I have had hard time feeding them cause all I can get right now is frozen food... Tried frozen baby brine shrimp, dried cyclops...neither worked

Frozen bloodworms with limited success...the ones i got were probably too big for their tiny mouths...and they weren't interested in dead bloodworms obviously...I had to wave the bloodworms with a tweezers in between plants to get their attention...

So far Frozen brine shrimps seem to work, I wont say they are crazy about them, but at
least they get fat belly after the meals.

I also got some shrimps in tank now so I am hoping they could feed on some shrimplets

I dunno what triggered the mating...perhaps it was the slightly murky and cooler water after the water change (or change in water chemical). The subdued lighting might have helped too...but I have absolutely no idea cause that male used to chase the female off very aggressively all the time, I was surpised when I saw them actually swam together :P
