building a hood?

That, sadly, is the transformer that didn't work. It was supposed to run my fan. It worked once before final installation, but after that it just smelled like varnish

Thats what I thought but wasn't sure. I'm trying to find something similiar to connect my 2 DC fans to. This would help me with my goal of having as few wires coming out of the hood as possible.

That's still my goal. Now I just need to find the right transformer. I've still got the switch and wiring in place, so it's not a major issue to put one in place.

I'm sure there's something vital I was missing as I've never worked with transformers like this before.
