Update from tonight:
Four of the six bags of Eco-Complete arrived today. I purchased a little over four feet of black vinyl that was tall enough for the tank background and put that on with my wife tonight. The vinyl looks much better than the normal black background you tape on in my opinion. I still like the look of a painted background on the outside of the glass, but with this being a new tank I couldn't bring myself to paint it. I ordered the CO2 regulator, Fluval 406 filter, CO2 drop checker, CO2 check valve, CO2 tubing, ISTA Mix Max CO2 reactor last night. I think that is about it. Looks good so far. I really like that piece of wood. Where did you get it?.
I'll be keeping an eye on your progress as I am also going to start a 75 gallon here soon. |

Thanks! My wife and I picked up the drift wood at our LFS.

Nice tank! If you paint the background on and want to change it, you can just scrape it off with a razor, does no damage to the tank. It comes off easily because the paint can't really stick to the glass

I purchased the black vinyl from my local sign store. Four feet by two feet was only $10.00!

Cujarret, the 406 is a good filter from what I hear, but you may want to have an additional souce for flow. I have about 450 GPH flow from canister filters and an additional 200GPH from a UV sterilizer on my 75 and sometimes I wonder if I need more.
Just a thought! Definitely following this! |

Some progress on the tank tonight! I changed my filter plans a bit and 86'd the Fluval 406 and instead decided to use a Eheim Professional 3 (2073). I like this option for many reasons but really like the filter tubing for ease of use when it comes to my CO2 reactor. I installed the heater, filter inlet and spray bar, and the light this evening. I like the light a lot!

I put the heater behind the driftwood, and put the Eheim inlet and spray bar on this side. ![]() IMG_6097 by cu_jarrett, on Flickr ![]() IMG_6100 by cu_jarrett, on Flickr Thoughts, Comments, Questions, let me know! |

The regulator and CO2 came in the mail today. I should be able to start some assembly on the tank mid week.
