Questions on Tangerine Tigers and OEBT
So, I finally got my hands on some tangerine tigers and found some OEBT mixed in as well. Just wondering if they will interbreed or muddy up bloodlines or anything. I got like 10+ tangerines and 2 small OEBT. Just wondering and all.

Yes, they will breed together.

Should I discourage that or will it be fine?
Not 100% on their genetics since from what I can tell they are different species all together.

Obsessed? Maybe

If you don't want them to mix, separate them right away.

Tangerine tigers are caridina serrata, and oebt are caridina cantonensis. |

I'm assuming then that I should, at some point, attempt to separate them then? Like, would the mix between the two just result in unnattractive muts? Or would it produce something cool?
I could seep rate the two OEBT from the tangerines...but they are small still and finding them will be a pita since the tank is very heavily planted. If t won't produce anything weird or undesirable I'd consider leaving them but if all it will do is muddy down both bloodlines then Ill try and breed the OEBT in a separate tank Any tips on how to catch individual shrimp?

I'm the one that sent them and while not purposely, I was netting out lot of shrimp that day and clearly some OEBT stragglers made it into the mix. I have kept them in a tank together for about a year and a half and have never seen anything in the tank that doesn't look purely like a OEBT or TT. Nothing that looks like crosses to me. They certainly have the possibility to cross, I just haven't seen any offspring that look like anything but the pure line shrimp. Personally I think they are a bunch of racist shrimp that like to breed with their own color
I am guessing the OEBT are small still if I mistook them for T.T. babies, you should still have two months or so before they are anywhere close to breeding age, so you have a bit to decide what to do with them. Good luck with your shrimp and enjoy the RAOK. |

I think I'll chance it then....if I see weird offpsring then I'll separate them out into another tank. Hey, who knows...I might accidentally make some really wicked looking mutt shrimp that become the new thing :P
...I wonder if that'd pay for college? lol

Hey Jorge I got a TT package from you today, no DOA at all! Great packing. I had 10 TT and 3 blonde OEBT! I think the general rule is that if the genus is the same they CAN interbreed.
