bay area plant source

hey does anyone know where i can buy some plants. esp dwarf sag. im new and not really familiar with the pricing of plants. the other day i went to the aqua forest aquarium in san francisco. though it was nice everything seemed so expensive. a 2x2 square of moss was $10! i just wanted some dwarf sag (as you can tell if you followed my previous posts). i saw that they carried some but one sprig of it with about 4-5 leaves cost $3. i found that a bit pricy but went with it anyways. but i was wondering if anyone was selling some for cheaper or knows of a place that sells it where i can get more for my money. thanks

If you live in the Bay Area join SFBAAPS, we just had a meet and I got so many plants! I cant wait till I have my bigger tank so I can have more plants. Oh I also got free wood which was awesome! I'm bread everyone was super nice even though I am new.

Moss also grows slow, unless you are in a club, it is going to be expensive.

You can post a listing once you get into SFBAAPS for dwarf sag, there was tons at yesterday's meet actually.

I bought dwarf sag from aqua forrest. There are actually 3-4 sprigs wrapped up. But I would definitely join the groups instead.

ok i signed up but they said i need to wait for my account to register. how long dos this usually take? (i actually signed up no saturday but i might try again i guess) anyways yea i dont know @gooberfish the girl who helped me at aqua forest said i would only get that one sprig. they had the dwarf sag lined up in the front of the tank and that was all they had for sale was like 3-5 pieces and the one i got was $3. but thanks guys. i have another question. how do those groups work? and when i go how do you go about buying the plants is it up front with cash or do they also do trades? thanks and if any of you have some dwarf sag you want to sell me id be happy to buy some off you for a reasonable price.

SFBAAPS forum has a Mart section for posted sales and WTB.
The open house meetings are the real excitement, though. We meet, eat, chat, and pass around trimmings from common and rare plants for free. Sometimes there are also auctions that benefit the group. I've easily received more free plant material than I could afford to buy at my LFS and had opportunities to try even more.

Nope...

Did you register first and last name as your username? If not redo it. You won't get accepted no matter what.

I've been trying to sign up, but it keeps saying that the code is incorrect, which I know it isn't. What is going on?

For your user name it must be your full name. Like my username is Kyle Fryman, that is why it never asked you for your name.

Hydrosparky, I have no idea, worked fine for me when I signed up.

I actually just rescaped my tank. I have about enough plants to COMPLETELY fill a 10 gallon tank, or to generously scape a 55. It was in my 65. Includes a Java Moss wall, Java Fern (3 different types), subwassertang, misc other plants.

Note: It does have some algae, so you'd do best by picking it out before using.

PM me for details, but I'd love to help a newbie into planted tanks.

I really liked what I saw when I went into Albany Aquarium, some really nice tanks, fish, and plants. I believe they also had little cards listing the conditions of each tank.

They are within walking distance of the El Cerrito BART station. I'm probably going to get most of my plants/fish from them when I get my tank set up.

hey guys thanks for all your help i signed up sfbaaps finally you were right i needed an actual name for my sn. anyways, i found someone who was willing to help me out and hook me up with some dwarf sag. but surprisingly i looked at my tank today and discovered that two of my plants already have runners. a small little tiny ass piece of val and the sag i bought. the sag i bought had two runners from its original clipping and i guess one of them grew because its doubled in size. so im pretty excited to see that. and its only been a week ish. so yea hopefully the extra sag will help my tank look more full because its pretty bare right now. i just have the sag and two small val stems. and java moss.
