Aqua soil powder type out of stock, best alternative?
Hey guys so ive been debating on if i should go with a mini M or mini S. I really wanted to but obviously being in college the bank account doesn't justify. So i'm going to go with a Do Aqua 20c and try my luck with that and a desk light. I'm planning on ordering everything monday, i was planning on getting aquasoil powdertype but realized its out of stock on the ada website and also the ada shop.
Is there any other place i can get this? Will the standard type grain size be too big for me? Whats the best alternative substrate i can use? Also will i need a heater for a 2 gallon tank? Thanks for the help!

i think that the normal grain will be just fine. i would go with that. IMO there is NO replacement for AS.

Haha that's what i hear so i gotta get my hands on it and give it a shot. After thinking last night once i get my plants to cover thing up it shouldn't be a problem. Also people who use the standard grain sand in bigger tanks still plant HC and DHG in it and seems to do well. So ill probably just end up going with the regular grain size

i have both HC and DHG growing in the normal type and they are both out of control.
So much so, that i am not sure what to do with all the HC trimmings. A good problem to have i guess good luck

Thanks! will the substrate and co2 be enough to grow a small carpet in a 2 gallon cube? Or will i have to dose micro's and macro's or whatever the case be and dive into that realm?
Also will i be fine w/o a heater?

Yep. Or just get the ada one. Its one bottle for the first three months from adana-usa for 14.99 for 250ml which is more than plenty. Thats all you would need. 1 pump and your done

Okay cool that sounds pretty easy. I was planning on just going with a desk lamp but if i was going to go down that road if i wanted a bigger one that i could extend to position right over the tank it's going to cost around $30 or so, so i was thinking i might as well get the Archaea LED 17 cm fixture for the same price. The only thing is the color temperature is a 12000K bulb/an 8000K bulb. It says its good for both marine and planted set ups. Is that 12000K going to be too much?
