Freshwater. It is primarily the runoff from the misting of the plants. I drain it every few weeks so that it doesn't get too high.

I had 3 Vamps and 3 RCC in a refugium under a tank once, I have no idea what I did to breed them but I got babies about 7 months into keeping them.

Then most of them got eaten, and they all died off eventually, never had success breeding them again. The biggest RCC I had was a little bit bigger than 3 inches, I think I might still have a picture of him somewhere if you want it. He died one day after climbing 6 inches straight up glass and crawling away to dry out in the sun.

RCC I tried again with, since they're cheap, and I've only successfully had one batch of eggs. It's really hard when you don't know what you're doing and are just going off intuition.

Sorry if my post doesn't really help!

Tank parameters at the time were:

Ammonia, Nitrates, Nitrates - close to 0
pH - 6.7
kH - 4
gH - 4
Temp - 75 ~ 78 F
Co2 - None

Does anyone else have any stories on the geosesarma's to share? I'd love to set up a paludarium for these, but I have absolutely no idea about humidity requirements. Do they need high humidity like frogs where I have to install a misting system? Or will a simple manual mist once a day or so, mainly for the plants, additionally to a waterfall set up and roughly 6 inches of water in the bottom be sufficient?

I keep Red Devil's that I've been breeding for 2 years. They're pretty easy to keep, as long as they're well fed. From my experience, the crabs really demand substrate they can tunnel in and pick through for food. They don't need much water, just a constant source. They young crabs seem to use water for protection more than the older ones. They're hunters. Fruit flies and other live foods are really their preference. They'll take a variety of foods but are much more vigorous and enthusiastic when hunting live prey.

here's a video of them in the wild. http://youtu.be/y5KeoT2VfzQ
