Looks great. I am curious about the sump area. Hopefully you show more of it in the video but I am having trouble viewing it right now. If could have talked my wife into letting me do something like this, I wouldn't have had to get rid of my goldfish.

Those are Titan's Apollo 7 timers http://www.titancontrols.net/products/timing.aspx

You can run 8 on off cycle per day, you also can breach a week up in groups of days.

Next to the timers the Aquabal is plugged into an on/off Switch from HomeDepot.

Thanks!

Maybe this will help?

I didn't have a pc of Foam tall enough to get top the top of the tank. Theres a 2nd pc on top that's maybe 3"x3"

Top view

Here the top Foam pc is remove...Yes, those are Cherry shrimp.

If you do a search here there's a thread about the use of the Hamburg Mattenfilter. Lot's of pics on Google image.

Wow those timers look like a good deal. Plants are all doing good nice setup. Are you just going to stick with ornamental fish or do you have plans to go with Tilapia or catfish?

Great work!

Took me a whole lot of messing around to get half as successful.

Nice setup. You you need to add extra ferts?

I'm in the learning stages. I appear to be the only person to try this type of combination. There's a wealth of info on Tilapia & Catfish....Goldfish, not so much.

Prior to adding the GoldFish & Cherry Shrimp I was using an Organic ferts to both feed and start the cycle. Obviously with the new seedlings not much is needed. Once the Goldfish & Cherry Shrimp were added I stopped. I just increased the photo period from 12hrs to 16hrs and I upped the Ebb/Flow cycles from 4 to 7.

I'll evaluate after two weeks. some of the Parsley had some yellow leaf tips, that is not evident in the new growth.

Your aquaponic made me think of how to do it in a bigger scale. So that means no shelf and having 2 pumps pumping back and forth. I wonder if it can be done with one pump.

I have a feeling you'll need to add extra ferts or feed more to the fish. Have you checked no3 , po4?

Most of the systems I've looked at all use gravity feed to turn the water. In part I believe to reduce start-up and operational costs.

I think once one decides to raise food crop fish then Ebb/Flow might not be as good a choice as a constant flow. Which make the grow bed one giant trickle filter.

Have you checked no3 , po4?...No, I have not.
