Mr Aqua 17.1 Dragon Stone Islands

Well after a year of building up the equipment I finally started my MA-720.

Filtration Eheim 2213 with a mix of biomax and the Eheim filter media.
CO2 is my old cheap but faithful Azoo hooked to an inline reactor.
Heater is a Hydor 200 inline.
Lighting is a standard BML 10k with their ramp timer.
Stand... I don't remember but it is all metal and I bought it from Petco.
I used some ceramic floor tiles for the shelving and the tank to sit on.
Substrate is ActiveFlora. So far it seems to be good stuff. I put down a bed of expanded clay hydroponic balls below it. Really light porous stuff so I figured the cation would be high with it.
Ferts will be EI method dry ferts from greenleaf.

So far the plants are only dwarf baby tears and staurogyne repens.I will be adding some fissidens fontanus as soon as I get it to attach to some small bits of lava rock so I can put it in some knooks and crannies. Still deciding on whether or not to add the ranunculus inundatus. Might add some red floaters also

Still a bit cloudy and I am still trying to decide on the fish but I am thinking red axelrods maybe? Suggestions on more plants and fish are most welcome.

Almost forgot to add some special thanks. Thanks to Warsah for the tank, ChadRamsey for the Fissidens, and my wife for putting up with the mess the last few days. (still cleaning up the aftermath)

Nice layout! I really am digging the island style. And I do love ohko/dragon stone, just got some myself.

I think adding some floaters would be good, your tank is kinda high and your scape is kinda low. Maybe the floaters will help bring things together a little. The fissidens should look pretty cool wedged into the rocks.

I hadn't heard of the the red axelrod rasbora before, but they look pretty cool! I vote for them, haha.

Maybe you could get some moss (weeping moss perhaps) or other creeping plant to grow over top of that archway and drape down to the opening? That might give that over-grown tropical coastline kinda look.

Sort of like this: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iIobXcPd47...0/IMG_0053.JPG

Thanks.

I might have set the scape a little lower than I intended originally but I wanted more swimming area for mid tank fish. My other tanks have been more heavily planted and I wanted to actually be able to see a school of fish for once.

I am going to add some red root floaters I think to balance it as you mentioned and I think it will be an interesting contrast to all the greenery below.

I like the suggestion of the plants on the arch. I will try a bit of fissidens first but I also have some Christmas moss that might do the trick.

True lol. My wife started raising a skeptical eyebrow every time I talked about the space I had set aside for the tank so I thought it was now or never or I would come home to find a new piece of furniture there.
