Low light 6.6g bookshelf tank
I went with my 8 year old son to Petco to get our dog a Halloween costume (yes, im going to make my poor dog wear a costume, lol) and somehow walked out with a new tank and betta. I got an aquaclear 20 to replace the filter that the tank comes with so that I could stuff it with biomax from my 40B to instantly cycle it.
Since I hadnt planned on getting this tank, I scaped it with things I happened to already have at home. The driftwood was from a failed attempt at a high tech planted 29 gallon, and the plants are ones that I wasnt quite happy with in my 40B. The plants are Ozelot Swords, Red Indian Swords, Cryptocoryne Nevelli, and Marsilea Minuta. I know swords are an odd choice for such a small tank, but I think the ozelot in particular looks pretty nice and seems great for a betta to get shade under or rest on. The Marsilea definitely has a lot of spreading to do. ![]()

That looks real nice I bet your betta will blow some bubble nests under those big leaves. Are those bookshelf tanks plastic or glass?

Thanks! Yeah, I think my Betta is quite happy in his new home. The tank is acrylic, which I hate because it's already scratched up. I love the dimensions though.

nice set up! the filter that comes with the tank is actually pretty good. and i stuffed it with biomax from my main tank too. id try and take back the aquaclear and save some money.
id also suggest spending 5 bucks for a 6700k bulb especially if you are going to try and spread your m minuta. i like the scape and love these tanks |
