my 15gal planted. diy co2, dirted
found this 15 gallon on the side of the road waiting to be picked up by the garbage man so a snagged it as a drove by.
i made it into a reef tank origanally but it eventaully crashed after being up for a year. i overdosed on iodine. so i took a plunge into planted again. this tank just got moved from a different house a month ago. its doing pretty well still it didnt really affect it. i just drained to water and left the plants in the substrate when moving it, so heres the breakdown of it. lighting-coralife daul t5 fixture 48 watts substrate- miracle grow oraganic dirt topped with sand and gravel mix co2-diy sugar and yeast based. pushes out 1 bps. filter-aquen10 hob heater- hydor nano 25 watt enjoy! |

hey pro nice setup. did you mineralize your soil before you submerged it? what kind of sand cap did you use?

looks cool but too small for two angels. how large are they now? they generally would like to be in tanks larger than 20 gals i think. and high tanks too.a pair should definitely be given more room than this, if they breed they will want to kill every other fish you have in there that comes close.

How's that 10gallon filter working? Looks like u need a higher flow. And water exchange rate. Like your scape look forward to seeing it evolve. U said your a reef guy. Get a koralia powerhead or a a second filter. A 20 gal and a 10 hob would be perfect

this tank would be nice with a few cories and maybe an apisto pair rather than angels. though i forget how much room apistos need...

do you wc often? your water looks nice and clear. mine is like a green tea color, like it has tanins. i don't have any DW in there so i've always attributed it to the unmineralized soil. do you find this an issue in your tank? - thefisherman

My water gets green aswell but it could be from my driftwood i have in there. So not 100 percent sure of the source. I do think some comes from the dirt. I do weekly 66% water changes on all my tanks. |
