Fluval FLORA "Rili Shrimp" Tank

Aloha everyone,
I've had a fun time breeding shrimp and being away for 8 months, its time to get back in it!

So, starting from scratch again.

I ordered another Fulval Ebi 7.9 Gal Kit off of amazon.com

due to poor shipping, the tank itself came in cracked.
i called amazons customer service and they handled it pretty well. I would've had to ship back the tank itself in order to get a refund, BUT bc it was broken glass, I didn't have to do it.

Long story short.... I got all the gear that the kit came with, 13w compact florescent, filter, 4.8lb ebi substrate...etc.

So, went to The Aquarium and picked up a Fluval Flora 7.9 Gal Kit and started from there.



So far, for my set up.. I have 2x 13w Compact Florescent Lighting (3.3wpg), 50w Aqueon Heater, Fluval Nano Filter, 10lbs fluval substrate, and the Fluval pressurized Mini CO2.

Tying Flame Moss to my miniature tree

Gonna be using Dwarf Hairgrass as my foreground

Keeping the plants simple Hygrophila Angustifolia & Heteranthera "Zosterfolia".

Finish scape for now.

Gonna be adding a pair of Blue Eye Gertrudae Rainbows & an Otocinclus for fish.

And my Red Rili Shrimps should be coming in on Wednesday 9/20/12.

I saw that you have 2 boxes of the PCL13 and the Flora comes with another in the box right? You going to use 3x eventually?

Sorry, long story short. Originally ordered Fluval Ebi, came in broke, got refunded.. and just popped on that free fixture onto the Fluval Flora that you see.

2 lights is perfect my my plants.

So, shrimp came in and i slowly acclimated them to the tank. So far so good! Coloration should get more intense as they mature!

So, I felt the tree was too crowded, so I took it out. Trying to leave a nice open area for them to hang out as they grow/reproduce.

Just checking out my tank, and one of the females were acting weird...

Instinctively pulled out the iPhone to film what would happen. Right when i hit the record button... she molts..
