plants that send runners...

plants like sag and vals.... That sends out runners. Where would be the best place to cut the runner and not harm it from spreeding? I have a few that are spreeding like crazy and just unsure where to cut. Any suggestions?

To the best of my knowledge, you can cut the runner anywhere. I tend not to cut it too close to the plant itself for fear of nicking the plant. But, there's nothing special about the runner itself, so trim away.

You can cut them off right at the plant so you dont have any unsightly runner stumps on the mother plants. Whenever I transplant the babies from runners I trim off both sides and leave about a 1/4" - 3/8" piece of the runner attached to help anchor the new plants in the substrate...they rot off eventually anyways.
