20g Long CRS/CBS
I'm starting a new shrimp tank.
Equipment: Coralife 36" 2x39 watt 6700k Eheim 2215 Co2 - Aquatek dual guage regulator on 5lb tank Plants: Utricularia graminifolia (UG) Hemianthus callitrichoides (HC) Fissiden Fontanus Shrimps: CRS CBS Fish: Oto cats Any other suggestions? ![]() ![]() What do you think about the hardscape? I want to keep it simple and no rocks because they raise the pH up. I'm plants to put the UG on the left side of tank and hc on the right side. On the wood in the middle I'm thinking abut putting some fissiden there or maybe on the brand of the bigger wood. I'm open to more ideas.

I am not sure what the middle wood is doing there. HUM.... I know the other wood will be nice with moss attached.

Instead place the wood horizontally in the back of the tank. Flame moss should be perfect for it!

I'm looking at adding rocks to my tank, and had this same concern, but several people have said that certain rocks will not affect PH at all... There was a general test you could do to determine it too... I think one way was to use vinegar and the other was to use (depending on your test kit of course) the solution #1 for the nitrates test. I think this user said it contained hydrochloric acid. There was another person that said muriatic acid was a good test. Obviously you wouldn't want to drip that stuff on anything else though... If a few drops on the rock bubbles, then it will raise the PH, and you will want to avoid those... Otherwise, you are good to go. Last edited by drazend; 10-04-2012 at 08:02 PM.. I know its kinda weird but I wanted it there to separate the UG from the HC. ![]() ![]()

Here is a long over due update with bunch of pictures. Since my last update I have gotten a few new products.
Just got my Finnex 30" dual 7000k and a Finnex clip light 7000k for the breeder box. The Finnex clip light wire is kind short for those who want to purchase it. Added : - Aquatek 4 fan chillmaster - some cholla wood (great hiding place for shrimps - Some Supreme red and SS CBS/CRS. - 1 burried S CBS, 2 burried S CRS, 1 burried SS CRS, 3 burried Supreme red - Removed my big piece of driftwood and replaced with manzanita branch. (should of added some more fissiden on it. - added some S. Repens and bonsai (don't know the species. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() you can see the Supreme red shrimplets ![]() ![]() No more UG melting but its taking a long time for it to carpet. It probably grows as slow as my fissiden. ![]() Same with my HC, it grows so damn slow. You think might light is not strong enough? My previous light was a Coralife 36" 6500k 38watt just one bulb. Light is on for 7 hours a day with co2 Hopefully with this new finnex 30" dual 7000k it will grow much better. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I dipped this clump of fissiden in H2O2 and after in Excel. H2O2 was 8:1 ratio and Excel was 20:1 ratio. Doesn't look dead, hopefully it can recover from it. ![]() My new finnex 30" dual 700k light and Aquatek 4 fan. I dremel a part of the rim so that the fan can slide in the rim.
