Pseudo Terrarium Salamander Fix

I love mostly all critters, and have had various reptiles and amphibians in the past, but now, sadly, I don't have the time or space for them. When I need a quick fix, I go nature walking or to the local nature centers. Sometimes the weather doesn't permit, so I made my own by hand and thought I'd share

They are all to scale, hand formed using Super Sculpty polymer clay, painted, and poly coating makes them waterproof.

Eft (Eastern Newt)

Slimy Salamander

Spotted Salamander

Thank you!
I don't have a work-in-progress photo diary with these. I will next time I make one. If you look closely at the eft's texture, you'll see fingerprints in the clay. I didn't try to remove them, as the land stage of this newt is kinda pebbly.

The "clay" is a poly resin, playdoh-like as it warms in the hands. Then I bake them in the oven on a glass pyrex pie pan for about 15 mins. (There are directions on box) I didn't use any wires or anything. Just sunk in the clay "eyes" (lil round balls), after I made eye holes. This clay doesn't shrink, so any delicate extremities, like leg attachments get super glued on after they cool. Paint with acrylics, then use a good indoor/outdoor brush on sealer.

Somewheres I have pics of salamanders, frogs, and plants I painted on river rocks that have a 3D effect. The truly lazy terrarium. Don't even need to mist it. People see it and ask if a critter escaped.
I'll see if I can find them and post...

Wow that is amazing, they look so real, if you posted the spotteds pic in a terrarium I would have thought it was real.

They all look great but I love the spotted.
