Mine is great stuff on eggcrate, covered in silicone and coco fiber. I also used a reptiflo 250 pump for the water feature.

lots of dart frog folks use DAP brand silicone, which comes in various colors. using almond, bronze (really brown), black and white, you can "paint" your "rocks" or background. i have used it a lot, and it still looks good in my vivs which are 6-7 years old.

oh yeah, you can also press various substrates into it while it's still wet. i've used sand, coco fiber, osmunda fiber, etc., to get different textures. epiphytic plants will root directly onto the silicone using this technique.

That's how I made my water feature. Great Stuff on an eggcrate frame painted with brown silicon covered in sand and gravel. Turned out ok.

Funny you mention snakes. I originally was originally going to build it for a green tree python, until i saw the price on those. So i went for dart frogs instead......lol

Awesome vivs! How do you like the eco-web? Are they all imitators? I'm still learning dart frog id.

I love the ecoweb. It holds up really well and the plants attach to it really easily. The only downside I've found is it's very difficult to get it to stick to the rear glass. I tried silicone and that didn't work at all. If I were building a new tank I'd suggest putting a layer of great stuff foam down on the glass and then pressing the ecoweb into it. It should get into the cracks of the ecoweb a lot better and provide more grip.
They're all imitators. In the big tank they're the "Baja Huallaga" morph, and in the small tank they're intermedius from the Uhern line. The big tank is about to come down and I'll be building a 36x24x16 freshwater planted tank in its place |

Glad to hear that about the ecoweb. I've heard good and bad about it. I plan on building a tank for mantellas after the new year and that tip will be helpful. Thanks for that
Your imitators are awesome!! And congrats on the froglette. It must be so cute and tiny!! I'll get imitators one of these days. Too many species and too little time....lol what are your plans for the frogs in the big tank?

I did manage to get a shot of him, but it was hand held so it's not as sharp as it could be.
