It has been classified nationally as a noxious weed so can no longer be sold in the US. Your only chance to get it would be through trade with a fellow hobbiest.

bharada,

Dude,
your tanks are sweet!!!!!!! I dont know if all the fauna and flaura pic are from the same tank but they are nice pics!!!!

What kind of filter do you have on your 125? Any additional powerheads in the tank?

Thanks. The flora and fauna pics are a collection from all three of my tanks (125, 40 and 20).

As for filtration, the 125 has an Eheim 2028 and a Fluval 304 running at opposite ends. The intakes and outputs are crossed so that the Eheim draws water from the right side and outputs on the left, while the Fluval is set opposite. No additional powerheads or pumps.

That's strange I just bought some 3 days ago here in central illinois. From a store, not a hobbyist. Won't say the name just in case it might get them in trouble. Are you sure its in all 50 states? I thought it was just Florida that it was banned.

I bought some yesterday too. The guy told me that it was banned in Florida, and since there was one main plant distributor in the US for aquatic plants and it's located in Florida, that it's hard to come by. He could be full of it though.

I ordered some from them a year ago... kinda doubt if they really check... but who knows they just might.

I have some red hygro that I just bought. I over bleached it and it is currently just stems. It had beautiful DARK red leaves and green leaves. Maybe in a month or 2 ill have some to sell or trade out.

I have this. I got it as an extra in a pack of plants I bought. It's growing like MAD in my tank. In a few weeks I'll have enough to sell a bunch (for the price of shipping). =D

It is classified as a noxious weed, but many lfs and nurseries still sell them. I commonly see it in many of my LFS.

I was told that it can be sold as an "aquarium plant" but NOT a pond plant...????? I suppose there's a loophole in the listing wording.

My LFS has it almost every other time they get a new batch of plants. Seems to sell really fast too.

Ya, it seems to have been scarce for me too the last few years but just this week I saw it in the store again. I was happy, I like it alot. I'll probly pick some up for my currently half set up 75g.

bharada: Just checked out some of your fauna. I LOVE the Monosolenium tenerum ('pella')! Where in the world did you find it for sale?
This is the first I've seen it but darn...I want some!

No, there are no loopholes for this plant. You have to be licensed by the US Dept. of Ag to grow or distribute this plant. There are very few of us left who can legally ship this plant and when our permits expires then it's totally gone from the legal commercial channels. On top of that there are a lot of states that have gone beyond the federal regs to ban it from their state and we are very careful not to ship it to the wrong state since fine can be and are ridiculous.
