5.5 Shrimp Tank
Well this is just my previous 2.5g enlarged. There are some changes though. Cherry Shrimp reside in this tank now and Betta fish is still in his 2.5g which currently is just a bare tank until I get the money to afford some plants and gravel and what not (actually has been really helpful as he can now easily find his blood worms).
There is no "Substrate" for plants so no stems (sadly). I will be getting an order of Least Killifish that will be shipping out monday which will go in here to start a small colony. If anyone has some suggestions for plants let me know (if you can get them at Petco, even better!) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I have actually been liking this more than the bowl because I can actually SEE the shrimp!

try some pelia, and add a few different ferns, mosses, and anubias sp, and you could have a very nice tank without any plants that require a substrate.

Do baby tears work w/o substrate? Also I have definitely been thinking of some pelia and other different mosses and a little java fern.

Try some windelov java fern, more anubias, downoi, and regular java ferns. Plants in pots can be camouflaged by placing behind a rock or driftwood. Small ones for pots are crypts, echinodorus and dwarf saggitarias. Try making a lush landscape with these plants. THEY ARE ALL VERY EASY!!!!

Planted tanks take so much time to plant because youll think of what plants youll put in.

Well "No substrate" didn't last long lol I bit the bullet and put soil in even though I had very little to cap it with. I have gone to Wet World twice to get some plants to put in here and I can't wait till they establish and take off!
Also against proper judgement I got a Corkscrew Val even though they get really tall I like the look of plants growing and covering the top. Everything underneath it is Low Light anyways. Also sadly Least Killifish are going to be delayed Along with getting plants I also replaced the bulb. ![]() ![]()

Well.....I think it's about time for an update.
This is just a progression of my tank. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() and here is it as of 9/28/2012 Finally got my Least Killifish and so far the 3 of them have been having quite a few babies in a trickle fashion. The Elodea (or what I'm assuming it is) has taken off and is starting to get that look I was wanting (dense bundle). Weeping Moss doing good but has some algae growing on it. The corkscrew val is dead but I didn't really care about it much anyways. The Least Killifish must be finding something in my tank because they are perfectly plump without me feeding them. Lastly I took out that in-tank filter which made the tank 10x brighter than before and freed up like 1/6th of the tank. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Also just found this snail while taking pictures. Does anyone know what it is? It has a shiny, copper colored shell....I've never seen anything like it.

Thanks! I'm hoping to get about half the tank filled with stems like Cabomba so that the fry can hide more easily.
Also, first time successfully getting floaters to grow
