Free moss?

I've been working out in the mountains in British Columbia. While up there i kept seeing moss growing on rocks that looked like aquarium moss (both java and one similar to x-mas). Put some in my 1 gal. Been in there for almost 2 months, with 4 watt flouresscent for only the last month and it's been growing/looks fine. Has anybody else tried this? Am I misinformed and all moss for the aquarium is originally terrestrial? Also when i was up in Georgian Bay I saw 2 types of plant that looked exactly like aquarium plants (can't remember the names, low light stem plants). Would it be very risky to use plants from a lake? Thx

well i try not to let anyone see you take anything (just in case) and if you really want to try and not risk anything then try to grow the plant in a seperate tank with no livestock for a while and see if it grows. If it does then try adding a couple of cheap fish as a test. If they live then YAY!

All I can say is cool man If it starts to die pull it!
Lake plants are fine if you can get all the bugs and slime off them! Also QT the plants for 2-3 months. There might be eggs on or in them.
