Starting a Nano

So the other day I went to Costco and I saw this guy on sell. I saw it and had the brilliant idea of transforming it into a nano.

https://www.backtotheroots.com/shop/aquafarm

It's been a while since I've had fish tank so I would like to start again with the basics. I think what I will do is just let the plants grow and figure out how best to go about setting it up for the plants that will be going inside.

I bought a crown tail betta but he sadly die because I forgot how cold our house gets and I think the cold got him. I bought a small heater and I will be putting it in there. I think I will be going with cherry shrimps but I'm not sure yet. It's 3 gallons.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

When I set it up Dec. 4 (Ponyo passed on the 5th)

The plants today are a little bigger than this, I took the picture yesterday.

Sorry to hear about the fish. However, he may have passed away because the tank wasn't cycled, not because of the temperature. (Although a heater is great!) There's some good information on this site about cycling a tank that is worth perusing via the search function.

Good luck.

Yeah I thought about that too. I haven't kept a tank in a while and I have found myself doing rookie mistakes :/

If you are looking for plant suggestions, i have a special place in my heart for Java Fern no matter what tank. Easy care, hearty, and can grow in very low light!

I know the box says "A closed-loop ecosystem - fish feed the plants, and plants clean the water!"

But i don't think that's the case, you will also have the feed this betta daily, i doubt the plants will keep it feed, and the plants certainly wont keep the water clean, unless maybe they are very well established, even then i doubt it.

Sorry to be a hater.
