Glass scraper
Hi TPT
I wanted to get some insight into what I should be looking for when purchasing a scraper? There are a number on Ebay, but am not sure which would be an ideal tool to get algae off the walls (green spots). Thanks! |

Old credit cards work well as long as you don't mind getting your hands wet.

There's really no need for 5-15 dollar glass scrapers. If it's glass, then go with razor blades. These seem to work a lot better for me than the cards do and they're cheap as heck. Just be careful with all sharp objects please

Credit cards with wet arms... Has any one tried the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser? I wonder this works or this is safe product for the tank....

Perfectly safe as long as you get the original one, and not the one with the added scents / chemicals in it. It's essentially super rough substance similar to the microfiber cloths that you use to wipe your glasses with, and has nothing harmful to your aquarium... just remember to stay with the classic one.

I've used razor blades, credit cards and putty knives. Razor blades are my favorite for a deep clean scraping.
I would recommend something like Mag float as well though. HTML Code:

Are these real?

I have managed to scratch glass with razor blades (not sure how). For my nice tanks, I go with credit cards.

Flat glass - ordinary magnetic scraper works perfectly fine.

Thanks for the info, I may try to use the classic one some time later for cleaning!

I don't use metal at all on my aquarium they will later scratch the glass no mater what. I use the plastic scraper the one u used to remove stickers, I just remove the Ada blades and replace that with it.

Anything like an old credit card will work as well! Like plastic membership cards, gift cards with no value on them...
