Since I'm only using Taiwan moss, there's very minimal lighting requirement. I put the cube in front of my window in my dorm.
Moss will do fine with office lighting too, though it won't particularly thrive.

Thanks. I actually have a semi-opaque curtain in front of my window, so lighting should be too minimal for an algae problem.

I have thought about it! I think the cube might be even too small for shrimp though.. It's only 18 fluid oz, small thing-

1 shrimp wouldn't hurt

If you ever get algae then 1 Nerite snail.

Bc 1 pond snail will turn into many pond snails.

Not sure how it compares in volume, but I've got three juvie cherry shrimp culls in a planted 4" diameter (3"high) round stemmed glass that are happily munching and molting away alongside a couple pond snails.

Finally got a picture uploaded of my wineglass shrimp tank. It's been up for a little over two weeks now and all three cherry shrimp are thriving; doubled in size, successfully molted and super active.

This has xmas moss, dwarf baby tears and frogbit.

If you are in the So Cal area this Saturday, there is a SCAPE meeting in Anaheim. They have an auction and its a great place to get some shrimp on the cheap!

Hmm you could try a single cherry shrimp. They're tough as nails, id just to be sure to add a little duckweed to absorb a lot of the waste. Cool cube though, i used to have a bowl and i loved it. I shouldnt have taken it down. I had a few guppies in there too when it matured.
