well planted tank people, i finally am starting a 60-p iwagumi style tank! im moderately new to this hobby and i believe that this site is a great resource for beginners and experts to learn from.

i'm currently spraying the tank two times a day and uncovering the cling wrap once a day. if you have any tips for making the plants grow faster or what ever, leave a comment below! m photo period is 8 hours long. my concerns of now is mold and fungus. started out with 8 pots of the stuff

equipment:
ehiem 2215
archaea pro slim led lights (see picture)
hydror inline heater
pb co2 setup shout out nilcog!
ADA 60-p (duh)
cheap knock off lily pipes from ebay (not power men, magic, or out flow brand)
cabinet from homedepot


other things?
ADA garden mat
ADA power sand small
ADA aquasoil NEW amazonia
drift wood (it might be horn wood)
hakkai stones

plants: for now, only HC ( dwarf baby tears)

Where did you get the Hakkai stone at?

If you want your HC to spread faster and I know you do, break it apart more. A lot more. It took me over 3 hours to plant my mini l. You could also try the break apart, sprinkle and press down trick.

ok, will do! im not sure if my HC is moist enough but i dont want to spray too much cuz i dont want mold or fungus

UPDATE TIME! as antbug suggested, i brook the clumps of HC into smaller pieces to increase the spread rate. when i lifted the pieces of HC up, i notics that some roots hung onto the aqua soil! yay that means the HC is starting to root i think....my room temp is at 65 degrees, will this work for HC?

been busy messing around with the camera
no sign of noticeable growth. im spraying with water from my ten gallon, not sure if it is helping. photoperiod is roughly ten hours and i uncover the saran wrap to air the tank out every day. i spray whenever the humidity seems low.

five days and no noticeable growth....

Did you try my picture trick? That's the best way to see the difference. I believe the 1st week the plant will establish the roots. Once those are set, it will begin to spread.

I have been watching the HC carefully and have noticed that my HC is melting! here is the link to what I'm talking about

is it just that the HC is still adjusting to the environment? the tank is pretty humid, water is sufficient, my greatest suspect is that the lights are bad.....

The HC does look a little dry. I'm not sure if your light period is too long or if you can try taking off one of the lights. Also try spraying one side of the tank more often just to see if it makes a difference.

Whee, that driftwood shape looks like one fun thing to work with. Lots of potential designs.
Hmm, I also agree that the HC looks a bit dry; at least, compared to other photos of DSM with HC that I've seen. Have you filled the tank with water up to the level of the roots? Not covering the leaves, but just so the roots have soaking. That should get it started.

thanks for commenting! im actually just spraying heavily. i dont want to fill it because i dont want to run into mold and fungus problems. just resprayed today so the hc should be all good. someone told me that if i see leaf yellowing, im putting in too much water. so when i saw the leaves yellowing, i put less water.....
