I need lots of coffee to fuel my Manic Fabrication Rushes. I'll definitely keep you posted. I will do a Journal, but It won't be a DIY Step-by-Step photo shoot. Mostly because I got so wrapped up I forgot to shoot pics. Besides there are a 100s of YouTube videos and I think I've watch them all.

Now my biggar dilemma is finding seeds this late in the year. I really hate to spend $12 to ship $3 of seeds. I have a herb garden going Parsley, Basil and Greek Oregano will be transplanted. I've got a few local garden centers yet to check. Nothing fancy just Spinach, Butter-crisp lettuce. I've got one Kale plant still goingI'm going to try to move that one in too.

I moved parsley and thyme from my herb garden to the aquaponic bed and the roots rotted. all the other herbs that bought are doing great, lavender and lemon thyme are doing great (bought them at HD).

You can buy seeds on Ebay for cheap with free shipping or .99 shipping.
My wife just bought a bunch, you can even combine.

Thanks, I'll look at EBAY four seeds if I don't find them today locally. I heard that Whole Foods has them too.

In talking with my friendly neighborhood hydroponic shop owner I was told the trick on dirt to water transplant is to pre-condition the plant in regular water or very low nutrient level water before full transfer.

I'm going to run a test with two Parsley plants from my Herb Patch. Put both and wash away the dirt. One will go in De-Clor Tap water, the other in a Tank water. They will be side by side in a Sunny window in Ball jars, dark paper over the glass to shade the roots.

You could always clone. That is supposedly a benefit of aquaponics because the tank water is not nearly as hot as a hydro mix.

My first time I transfered from dirt too, with mixed results. Use the b vitamin complex or whatever it is to reduce root shock. Gently tease the dirt out and don't break the feed root (you'll know which one it is, it looks a little thicker and firmer than the rest).

I found a guy with heirloom seeds on ebay that was reasonable about shipping. What ever I don't use in the Aquaponics, I offer at trade or just plant in the dirt next spring.

How is your parsley doing?
I planted lavender from HD and its slowly dying...

Basel, is doing great other plants are just doing ok, but i don't have any fish in the system yet. I'm seeding the system with frozen tilapia filets and squeezing out filter media over the grow beds.

How large of a Sump/Fish tank are you using? Are you using a pre-filter foam on your pump?

330 gal IBC tote, I think I have +200gals of water in the tank.
There is a pre filter on the pump. Pump is about 630 gal/h.
I have 3 bags of viastone (the pebbles) and 2 bags of red lava rock in the bed.
Lights are 4x 54W t5ho Odyssea fixture. about 15-20inch of the bed. I have 2x 10 000K a gieseman bulb (around 8000K) and a 4100K bulb in there

Seems like lavender is dried up the whole way today.

I threw in another bag of viastone, the water is now about 2" under the pebbles. I think that will work better against rootrot.

I also hang another light, the HD diamond plate 2x32w 6500K

I use Prime. I've mentioned on other threads I had asked a SeaChem rep and they say you only need 2 drops per gl. of water.

You asked before about the Garden veggie transition.

I had pulled some Kale & Parsley from my garden to transition to the Grow beds. I trimmed them back to the newest growth and put them in Aquarium water for a wk. One of the Kale plants and a few Parsley plants got mushy. But, I was able to get the other Kale and most of the Pasley transitioned. I am happy to say I have new growth on all. Today I decided to skip the transition period with some Basil plants. I just trimmed them back, cleaned the roots in tank water from a w/c and put them in the grow bed. Should be interesting to see if that works.

I hadwell over 80% success germinating my lettuce and Tiny Tim Tomatoes. Really have to many sprouted. Still waiting on the Spinach to germinate.

I've also got a placed an baby Ozelot Sword in today. I put the roots in rock wool then put that in a net pot with stone media. I had a plastic bowl from some organic veggies thats about 6" diameter. I have that over as a dome.

I've moved some Anubias into the fish 40gl tank/sump. I've got a few more coming. I'm going to hold off a bit on adding the Orandas. I'd like to let the Anubais get going and I'm being fussy about the fish. It's pretty hard to find nice Orandas when you know what to look for.

I also have couple amazon swords in my bed, I don't use a dome for humidity, they do fine like this.

Are you sure prime is fine for us to consume? I use safe, but am not sure if i can use it on the tilapia if we want to eat the fish in the future.

Here is the setup like it is today, I threw all kinds of seeds: mixed lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes, green beans, carrots, all different kinds of herbs,...

They started sprouting already, this is day 2:
