I got some weeping moss in from Aquadic Magic today. I plan to use it in my planted HOB.

I've been going through some tough times with this tank regarding algae. Therefore after consulting to pro's on this forum. I have suspended the light and reduced the photo period. I'm currently at about 35-40PAR. The hardest part is keeping the CO2 high with my damn paintball setup...

I also plan to do an addition 1/3 water change during the week to keep the tank cleaner and remove possible ammonia which could be leeching from the soil.

It's important to me to get a handle on the imbalance on this tank. There are just so many variables...

I will post pictures soon, I promise. I have new shrimp and I added more HC. I plant to eventually carpet the center across about 12" front and back.

In addition to the weeping moss, I have had a lily bulb in the HOB filter for the last few weeks. The bulb has sprouted and as it grow we will see what grow up out of the water. One problem is that I do not does this tank and all the nutrients is in the soil; therefore, the lily will not be able to get enough nutrients. It will be able to take what it can from the HOB filter buildup though.

Another point of concern with this tank is density. I need to get my plant more dense in order to keep this algae at bay. I will work on that. My dwarf Sag has sprouted 6 new shoots since I first planted and I have added more HC; however, I need to do more.

I was thinking about starting some Dwarf Hair Grass. That should do well in a nutrient rich soil with no dosing. I'm also going to look into crypts. I hear they pull lots of nutrients from soil.

Until, next time. Oh any I almost forgot. I added a heater and holding temperature at 76F.

This tank has been a great learning experience for me and I appreciate all the help from my friends here on TPT.

I started a moss falls with Willow Moss which is more or less an experiment. I am still waiting to see results.

I also started a large moss wall with Christmas Moss which is again... an experiment that I am waiting for results.

I planted some new plants since I last posted picture.

1) Rotala Colorata
2) Lily
3) Star Moss (In The Mail)
3) Fissens (In The Mail)
4) More HC

Algae

I am getting Green Spot Algae (GSA) on the aquariums glass. You can see it well on the back wall (See pictures of Otto's) I attribute this to low phosphates and unstable Co2.

Dry Fertilizer

I ordered some dry fertlizers from nicoli here on TPT. Thanks man. Those should be comming sometime next week. In the mean time, I am in the process of developing a dry fertilizer dosing plan with the help of TPT people. Special thanks to wkdnracer for taking some time out to give me advice.

Co2

Let's face it... the Paintball Co2 had to go. It was just crazy unreliable and was driving me crazy. I have upgraded to a pressurized co2 injection system. I bought the Milwaukee MA957 co2 regulator. I've come to find out its not the best regulator but seems to be doing the trick for me and is much more reliable than my old paintball setup.

I appreciate that. I've been working hard to keep this tank looking good.

So am I, although I'm not sure it will work out in the end...at least with weeping moss it seems to be taking a long time. I may have to take another route. Stay tuned.

Thanks for looking everyone!
