Add some Seachem Stability etc something like that to be safe.

And no, you can't put 2-3 of these in a 75Gal tank. Even 1 is a lot for a 75gal tank. It's not about filtration all the time. You could run 10 FX5s on a 75 gallon and have water blowing all over, filtered to the max, and you still wouldn't keep 7 full grown silver arowana in there. Filtration matters, yes, but size does as well, and this is a very aggressive fish that can get VERY large.

My comments about putting cichlids in a community tank was no about what you are doing but about others. It seems you are doing what most should. When questions come up about cichlids, the response is often written as if all cichlids were the same. This guy is a perfect example of how much cichlids vary.
It is a cichlid but comparing it to a yellow lab or angelfish is like comparing a scooter and a B-52. They are both machines but that's about all they have in common. When we speak of cichlids, we need to find out WHICH cichlids because this big boy is not the normal pet shop cichlid!

Yah, as I believe I said earlier, one of these in a 75 is really all you can do. But hey, he is now your "wet pet" and will be the star of his tank. You could do a nice little rock scape as well, make it all pretty and such. Its not really the size of the fish that makes them have to be a loner, but their attitude. I've only ever seen these mixed into hyper aggressive communities in tanks at least 8 feet long if not bigger.

That's a really beautiful fish. Even as a single fish in a tank he'll look great.

I had one of these a long time ago I think 14+ years in a tank with a red headed snakehead more than twice its length.

The snakehead try to eat it sometimes but that thing put up a fight to tell the snakehead to not mess with it.

They'd be good with a community of other large cichlids in a larger tank.

Yeah, he looks kinda good but regret getting him. At least he was free. For the time being im going to keep em until i can get all the funds for the substrate and other cichlids. I already transfered him to the 75g that was waiting for him. In the future when im ready for it i'm looking to get a bunch of small cichlids that maybe dont grow huge. If that even exists? I got to research that. I really like those electric blues and yellows, and the peacock cichlids are cool too. When i do make the move i guess i'll just give him away through CL. He scarfs downd those feeder fish like tic-tacs man!! Lol

If you want to know cichlids, pm me, whatever I don't know off hand I know of great links for.
I originally started as a cichlid/predatory fish keeper way before ever touching plants. Now I just do a combination of both because I'm crazy like that lol

Cool, thanks! Hey, do you know if cockatoo cichlids are rare or hard to find and what they can go for?

LOL That would be a feat keeping all three together... Labs are Malawian Cichlids... Buttikoferi's are western African river cichlids & Angels are Amazon basin Cichlids... THAT would take some serious parenting efforts...

Tbh, I don't see them in my area so much. They are very sweet fish though, but I've beer kept cause they are too small for my bigger tank and too big for my smaller tanks lol
I can send a link your way later though
