Convincing the wife...

We rescued a leopard pleco from a friend and she fell in love with it. It's about 4" but will get much bigger and be too big for my 50 gallon. Plus i never had any ideas for anything big in that tank anyways. What do i do? Lol

Leopard Plecos do grow to be over a foot long unfortunately

You at least have a little bit of time with this fish before you will have to find a bigger tank for it or rehome it

Your wife fell in love with your new fish! You've already won. Perfect excuse to spend your emergency fund on a new bigger tank, with the wife's approval!

There is another way to look at this question. Right now the fish is a size which you might be able to sell. When he gets bigger and bigger, the buyers become harder to find. Sometimes it can be a question of unloading him now or learn to live with him for what might be a very long time. Local fish shops here will not even look at large plecos.

this would be a good chance to say honey.. He can wait a year, but that 120 won't be big enough to house this guy...

Tada!!! lol. I don't think he will get to his full length in a year so you should be safe
