16 hr a day for dwarf baby tears dry start bad?


ok so i was wondering would it be a bad idea to have my 2 spiral 24watt CFL bulb running for 16 hrs a day with 8 hr rest for a Dwarf baby tear dry start a bad idea? let me know what your though's are.

Are you running co2?? More light equals more algae. Plants need to sleep, just like us. I think 12 hours enough.

My impression for drystart is that that's ok. I'm running mine around 12 hours I think.

its a dry start... i am just growing phytoplaktons and thats why i have it at 16 hr's but if 16 is fine i can just hook p the light to the same timer is why i am asking

I believe it's fine. My emersed set up is on for 14 hours a day. I'm sure it'll be fine, just pay attention to any problems your plants run into.

I run my emersed setups at 12hrs.

will there be any issues with algae? having the light on for so long? and not sure if the subtrate needs to have water up to the leafs or under the sand only

Emersed set ups don't usually have problems with algae. There might be the occasional blue green algae, but that appears if there's too much water. Algae forms on the walls of the container sometimes, but usually people add moss to counter it (from what I've heard). My set up is simple: 10gallon tank with lights and soil. I mist every now and then and then I leave it alone.

so does the tank need a srand wrap with holes over the top of the tank? also whats a good misting system for cheap to get? i was looking at the Mistking but its pricey just to grow plants lol lazy to keep spraying them down xD.... any idea?
