How many amanos?
I have a 75 gal tank with hair algae. I have another thread about how to combat this... However my toothbrush skills being what they are, I'm pulling out some of the DHG every time I try to clear in. So, I was wondering if I should try to locate some amano shrimp and how many I should get for a 75 gallon. It is moderately planted. Also, are there any specific water parameters I should pay attention to? I have soft water with low pH.
Thanks

I saw your thread and I'd start with 10-15, wait a few days, a week or two and add more if needed. You don't need to add too many at once after the initial few since they have a pretty big appetite for their size and you don't wanna starve them either.

You can add as many as you want. If you're not crazy about them as inverts, then add just a few. If you're nuts about them like me, add a bunch of them. I've had has many as 100 in my 75g at a time. It's amazing to have them all over the tank!
And don't worry about running out of algae. They eat fish food just fine. In fact, they're a ton of fun to watch the different ways they go about getting the food. Just never drop an algae wafer in the tank. One amano can pick up the whole wafer and carry it off! LOL!

Found a source of Amano shrimp locally. Depending on the price, will probably start with 10-12 shrimp. I have plenty for them to eat
