10 to 20 gallons is a good starting size. Its the footprint that matters for shrimp, so the oblong tanks would be better than the square unless the square is more shallow. Example the 20 gallon Long tank is better than the 20 gallon for shrimp keeping.

Go big or go home. Go with a 40G breeder.

It depends on the size of your colony. I have many shrimp species, and they're all in assorted tanks ranging from 5 gallons to 20 gallons, with each colony's numbers in the 10-150.

Anything bigger than 25 gallons long is too big unless you have like 500 shrimp.

I keep 1000 shrimp in a 20L no problem!

I thought so too until I got one. I hate it for shrimp. Too tall. Foot print is great but I don't like the height. Knock 6-8" off a 40B and it would be much better. My vote is for the 20 long. It's a perfect size for shrimp.

I'll probably be converting the 40B into a fish tank at some point and getting rid of the 75g altogether. When the day comes and I want another large tank, when we move to a new house, I'll go much larger than the 75g...something 200+ gallons.

20 gallon long, 20L in US terms. I had over 1000 PFRS/Fire reds in there and sold now as of yesterday day 600 off. But they reproduce like a wild fire. So on estimate I have about 300 white/pinkish specs swimming around now, and another 250 adults and 200 juvis-sub adults left
