What do you think about this driftwood?

I would definitely cut it down. It is off balance, and brings too much attention at the waterline.. it would look odd. Its not like some long wavy branch sticking up, its the entire piece.

Its a very interesting piece. Honestly I'd avoid cutting. I'd explore every avenue before I did that. It might involve rotating or flipping but the appearance as is without fresh cuts seem more natural. I definitely wouldn't cut the bottom. As mentioned, I'd bury a portion to allow inhabitants to use the wood as shelter. I agree with the balancing part though. Having a rock formation or a slope with tall plants to transfer the flow from wood to plants. You could probably even partially or fully cover the top portion of the branches with moss or something similar and perhaps blend it into a taller planted background. I have seen some very weird pieces of DW but this weirdness is what sets one tank apart from another.

Sorry for the delayed response. I've been busy!

I ended up cutting down the left side about 3 inches.
