How to get rid of white fungus?

My tank has been cycling for 6 weeks and should be finished tomorrow or in a few days. I have been getting this white fungus growing on any organic matter I put in my tank (flake food, pellets, dying plants). What can I do to get rid of it, or can I just get a fish or snail to eat it?

The cause is the decaying food and plants. To solve the problem don't let the decaying matter sit in the tank.

There is no way to permanently stop the fungi. They naturally are present all the time. When a generous food source happens the population of fungi explodes to the point that you see it.
Keep the tank cleaner by feeding less, remove dead leaves and fish promptly and you will see less.

While the tank is still cycling you can still clean up the dying leaves.
If you are cycling using fish food or a shrimp or prawn from the grocery store then you are stuck with the resulting fungi. Using actual ammonia eliminates that, and can cycle the tank in as little as 3 weeks.

Do snails and shrimp eat the fungus?

I am not sure if they do. I do not know about shrimp but pond snails did not eat it when I saw it in any of my tanks.

Some Loricariads will eat the clear-white-gel sort of fungus that often forms on newly submerged driftwood. I have not seen them eat the stringy-hairy stuff that grows on dead fish or fallen food.

Ok thanks. My tank currently has 5 neon tetras, 3 cory cats, and 2 mystery snails (but I think one of them is dead because it hasn't moved in a few hours, the other one I can't find).
