Need help finding parts for my XP2
I'm getting no love from Rena Filstar techsupport, so I thought I'd toss this one out here in the hopes that someone here can assist me.
I need to replace the thick o-rings inside the quick-release assembly - not the little external o-rings, I need the big ones inside. I've attached a pic of the o-rings in question, including my best estimate of their measurements (measurements may be slightly off - it's hard to get an accurate diameter on a rubber ring). Can anyone direct me to a place where I could buy replacements? |

Jules,
From what I can gather, Rena Filstar never thought about people who would want to replace these gaskets. They only have the outer gaskets available for purchase in a "replacement gasket kit" that includes: canister, impeller, and quick-disconnect (outside) gaskets. It looks like you may have to keep the old quick-disconnect for spare parts and order a new one. The list price is $29.99 without s and h but you should find it cheaper elsewhere. If you really want to replace these o-rings try looking in a home improvement store in the faucet repair section. Bring the old ones for comparison. |

Thanks for the advice guys - and you're right, just heard back from Rena and they say the only way to replace the o-rings is to buy a whole new quick-release assembly (for $40 Canadian or whatever lol - that is so not happening).
These o-rings are a lot thicker than anything I've found in the local diy type places, but I'm sure these suckers are off the shelf components that are used for something other than filstar filters, so they must be available somewhere. The closest I've come to finding them so far is some of the seals used by model rocket builders, but I haven't found any thick enough yet. |

Wish you the best of luck but my attempts at finding any type of O-ring has been a challenge. There are about six hundred sizes and they have to be pretty exact many times. I often find the right diameter but some other little fussy measuremnt is off. Somewhere there must be special department to design things we can't fix!

Your best bet might be an automotive parts store or if available in your area, an industrial parts supplier or company that supplies parts to that type of business. And if they have a walk-in counter, they will be able to measure the o-ring correctly, though with fat o-rings, it is much easier because they don't distort as easily.

I hadn't thought of going to an industrial supplier or automotive parts dealer - that's certainly worth a shot, thanks
