Rummynose Tetras

So I picked up a few Rummynose Tetras, 6 of them, for my 25 gallon which I never got around to adding fish yet. They're pretty sweet so far. I'm not expecting them all to live, though. Lol. I heard they're very, very sensitive.

If they do well is it possible I could add about another 6 of them? And maybe possibly another 6-7 other kind of small schooling fish? Neons, etc.

I also have a 35 gallon filter on there, too, if that makes any difference!

I too have Rummynose; they are a great schooling fish and very active and colorful. I like to keep my fish in odd number schools 5,7,9 etc. Since they get to be about 2" or so long I would suggest no more than 11-13 Rummynose in a 25 gallon. Or Neon or Cardinal Tetras (more red) are a great choice; in lieu of adding 5 or so Rummynose you could add 9-11 Cardinals.

Nice! they are very active! Great colors, too.

If I didn't add any other fish, however, and did just rummynose tetras, about how many could I have ya think? And I've heard that fish do like being in odd numbered groups? why is that?

For reference I have 80 in my 65g right now. I also have other fish in there with them. I would think about 40 or 41 would work. Great fish.

If you have the right setup and good environment you can have that many. Understand that each person has their own unique experience. What works for one, may not work for another. I myself, slowly build up to have a very stocked tank. I love the colors of the fish so I stock over the unwritten rule of 1" for each 1G. Determine how many you want, and slowly build up to it. Keep in mind total swimming area, filtration, and water changes.

I'd like to have about 12 That way there's still a decent school, and enough space, and keep the bioload down a bit.

Update: I had bought six of these guys, there was five swimming around all day, and one little guy just hangin' out on the bottom, not schooling with the rest... he didn't look too good. I'm assuming he's dead now because he's nowhere to be found. strange...
