To be honest , anyone that wants to join its more than welcome, all you have to do is come to the meetings if possible. The ultimate goal is to go statewide and get the hobby more exposure.

On the date subject : I don't think everyone will be able to attend, we all have weekend jobs and stuff to do on the side, so pick a date and stick with it. This should be left to the host. Also someone need to make a list of attendees, so the host has an idea of the trouble he's getting into. :-)

This is really taking off! The only problem I foresee is with too much growth, a host might not physically have the space for 20-30 people, which is when renting a room at a community center comes into play, and that's when you need to collect dues. Raffling stuff for money will also help. Another concern is a few people contributing to the group and everyone taking. I think there should be contribution of some kind from every participating member, whether it be monetary, food/beverage, or something related to the hobby. Something to help the event be successful. What do you guys think?

Also, whoever's hosting should put a thread together specifically for that meetup so we can plan it. The 12 is coming up fast.

Just joined the group, good to have some others nearby. Not sure if I can make the meetings.

Anyone know of any good sources for Amano shrimp in Orlando or Daytona? I have not seen anyone carrying them and there are not a lot available online.

I have some Pygmy Chain Sword if anyone wants some, will bring it to the meeting or mail it possibly.

I would also be interested in a few adult Neocardina shrimp if anyone has extras to sell.

I bought two Amanos at Petco near the Altamonte Springs mall 2 weeks ago. They also had Bamboo and Ghost Shrimp. Decent fish selection, and seemed healthy.

Thanks for the heads up on the Amano shrimp, I'm surprised a Petco had them!! I will have to get over that way and take a look.

I was too when I first saw them.
A couple months back, I took a Saturday and visited a few fish stores.
I went to Fishy Business, Petland (on semoran near the airport), Pet Bazaar and Petco in Altamonte.
Surprisingly Petco had the nicest freshwater fish area and the only place I saw shrimp other then feeders.
Fishy Business I found rather disappointing to say the least.

Any specifics? I breed RCS and have loads.. PM me offline if you are interested and I can bring as many as you want to the meet. A few of the members have some of my stock so feel free to ask about them as well.

I am interested in crystal red and/or amano shrimp! I can also give away some RCS I have lots in my tank, they are always breeding.
