How thick should the glass be?

I was browsing my local hobby store looking for a potential new nano bowl or vase. And I found a few that I really like but they are bit thinner than I'm used to seeing.
I'm concerned that they are gonna break on some point if they are too thin (only thing stopping me from buying them).
So here's my question... How thin/ thick can/should the glass be?

And are bubbles a big concern? They seem like it to me. They had some other nice thick ones but they had a few bubbles.

the thickness of a fish tanks glass depends on the height of the water column. thus the taller the aquarium the thicker the glass must be to support the water column. very shallow nano tanks can be made rimless with 1/10-1/8" glass.

You can use this glass tank builder tool \/ to see if the thickness your in ? is safe or not.

If they sell the tanks as aquariums or for water, I would think the thickness is the proper size. Not good business practice to sell tanks that are too thin and break all the time.

Well as I stated earlier its a bowl at a hobby shop.
A decorative vase.
If i had to guess I would say they are around 12 inches high and 12 inches in diameter.

So is 3 - 4 mm enough?
And are the bubbles a concern?
There are two bowls. One is thinner. And one is thicker with a few bubbles. My plan was to buy both and use one as a planted bowl and one as a carnivorous plant terrarium of sorts.
Which one I used for which project depends on which is more suited for holding water.

3-4mm Glass is actually substantial as 6 mm glass is 1/4" which they use in tanks all the way up to 55 gallon. So 3-4MM glass could hold water up to 12 inches high, so you shouldn't have an issue at all.

Bubbles are not too important in small bowls like you are describing, though I would look through the stock on hand and select the smaller bubbled bowls. If a bubble has broken through the surface of the glass I would reject that one.

Fantastic. The thing one isnt that thick but the thick one is at least 4 mm thick.

Unfortunately theres only one of each type of bowl left. If theres any surface bubbles I'll be sure to put it back on the shelf.
Thank you!
