fluval spec v light

Just got the fluval spec 5 gallon but the light is not as bright as i like. i do like the look of the light but not sure it will grow anything. what have others found for this tank? does the stock light grow anything?

Tried the stock LED one for a while with out much luck. Switched it with Fluval's florecent compact and have much better growth.

That light on Amazon, can it clip on the side of tank and go across the open space in lid the same as stock light?
