TapATalk Soon To Be Deactivated

Pity. I've yet to see a forum site that's an improvement over Tapatalk, especially in cutting out superfluous content (design clutter, ads, etc.).

Let's hope you don't lose too much traffic over this.

Good choice IMO, however, for those hatin' on the choice, maybe in the future an app made just for TPT would be better? You could then have it for free, or $.99 and support the forum in yet another way, and make everyone happy. It would take a lot of time to do, I know, but just a thought.

I use tapatalk, ill miss it but you got to do what ya got to do.
Regular site loads fine on my phone. So the mobile will be quick hopefully!

The question is also how easy/quick it will be to parse the forums - check your favorite subforums, the threads you've participated in, ~~PM notifications~~, etc.

I wondered how long it would take Tapatalk to eat into ad revenue to the point it became counterproductive for site hosts.

This isn't good. I use this forum so much on Tapatalk, but I will probably be on here less now. Mobile sites, though better than the desktop version, have nothing on Tapatalk. Eh, not my decision.

There are some great jquery mobile sites, not to say this is what the new tpt mobile will be like. Just saying that a regular mobile site can rival the buggy crashable tapatalk.

i just use the desktop version of the forum on safari on my ipod touch, and it works fine...it will be nice to not get the tapatalk notifications anymore though!

fwiw in tapatalk I go directly to check "participated" then "unread" then messages.
That is why I like tapatalk and I hope the mobile version has that capability, otherwise I may have to fade out

I must be weird. I've never used tapatalk and I find mobile sites to be a curse. It always seems like the one think I'm looking for (feature or link or whatever) is cut from the mobile version.

If I could figure out how to disguise my phone as a desktop it would be great. I've always browsed the full version.

I will actually use Tapatalk on my phone even when I'm sitting right in front of my computer just to use the "participated" threads feature. The only reason I bought Tapatalk was because of this forum.

Sadness. Less forum time for me now I guess.

http://m.neogaf.com does a very good job, it also allows the sites team to display an ad at the top and bottom ensuring the site gets revenue from mobile hits which is where more and more traffic is coming from with better mobile devices.
