Plant damage?

Yep, it's the loaches, getting a bit bored. Snails are probably secondary in chewing on the damage.

Not really... loaches are very intelligent, and need some distraction. They might lose their interest in clicking holes into your plants, and resort to digging, chasing fish and shrimp, or other entertainment. You might want to add different plants to your tank, or hope that they pass that phase soon.

What sort of loaches by the way?

I have a school of Dario loach. yea, hope they decide to leave them alone lol. they ate my reneckii last time I tried some

Looks pretty much to what my B. kubotai are doing to my swords and Hygros. I had to move all the swords out. Adding algae wafers seems to help, but not much.

I do not see my loaches actually eating the plants, but I do see them at night doing 'death runs" - basically diving nose first into the leaves from the drop checker. I moved the DC to the other side but that only increased the length of their runs...

Try adding a nice thick slice of Cucumber.. My loaches and Botia are quite distracted with it for some time.

Have to try that, hopefully once the plants get bigger they will mess with them less, they don't seem to bother my swords

Yep. I just slice it raw. Put it on a suction clip to the glass. Ours go nuts for it.
