One of my Otocinclus died today.

I bought two otos about a week ago and I guess one had a hard time of acclimating. From day one of adding these two, one of them seemed much more active and alert than the other. It seems the active one has made it, even though the activity level has gone way up and the oto can often be found swimming along the glass for long periods of time.

I found the one that passed away on the bottom of the tank quite motionless and with death in its eyes. I reached in with the net to nudge it to move and it didn't do a thing. Poor little guy. I hope the other one acclimates better than the one who passed today.

Such is life, however unfortunate and sad it may be. I like to think the oto passed in relative comfort when compared to the crowded and hectic tank at the LFS.

I just picked up a group of ottos a couple days ago. They seem active, and have cleaned up my tank quite a bit...but with this fish it seems like a crap shoot on their survival. All depends on the method of their capture, how much they starved before you got them home...

I'm just making sure they've got algae and zuchinni to chow on, and crossing fingers.

I hope the other one makes it!

I've also had horrible luck with these little guys. I decided to try keeping them again after giving up for like a year. I got a bunch of them a few days ago so fingers crossed.
