Hellolights Metal Halide kits?

At hellolights.com they have a page with Metal Halide retrofits. Why are some of the magnetic ballast systems around $90? I do know anything about MH other than the common use in saltwater. I have been told that a good MH system would be super expensive($900 Canadian was the price they gave me at my lfs).

Are any of these MH systems worth their price?

Those are good prices on those kits. The bulbs are extra at $75-100 a piece but still not a bad deal. For more info go to a reef board and ask questions. The reef guys can give you a lot of info on the advantages and disadvantages of the different ballasts etc....

I've got 4 250 watt MH kits from Hellolights. They are the ones with the electronic ballast tho. Work great and Hellolights customer service is second to none.

Hey ever tried hps lights on an aquarium by any chance or is it to much red and not enough blue light?Just curious because they are so cheap to buy.You can get 150w hps at homedepot for around $70 I think.

Nope. Everything I read said hps was no good for a planted tank.

As for cheap, it really erks me that aquarium lighting is so grossly over priced. I've wasted my share of money looking for generally available alternatives and haven't found any.
