starting journal

ok so i decided to start a journal and join the fun here. ive been doing this for sometime and the tank im workin on has already gone through a lot of progression but this is where im at now.

29g about 18" high
new wave dual T5HO 4" above tank; 8hrs a day
i have a mix of MTS, eco-complete, and generic gravel
paintball co2 w aquatek regulator
drop checker
just started dosing EI w macro solution and flourish
my equpiment is outdated. i need a new filter and i use a powerhead

2 guppies
goldfish
i just added HC and a nice little crypt.
amazon sword
grass
java moss
other plants i cant identify

I recommend you a canister filter in addition to the one you have.
I also think that a black background will hide all the equipment and show more the plants. The problem will be that will hide that black fish, is it a goldfish? In that case you don't need a heater because they are cold water fish. I think guppies like warm water tho.
Oh, and goldfish eat some plants.

yes it s a black moor goldfish. i know they are cooler water fish but has been doing well in warmer water. i know the tank is not very cosmetic yet because im working mainly on growing plants successfully. and yes i am aware of goldfish eating plant because i catch him in the act all the time. i have other tanks i can move him into if needed

added some hc and repens. i believe i may have some bba growing from my previous setup. nothing really outta control yet. some brown and green algae on glass but i think i have an excess of nutrients so i will do a 50% water change tommo. i was going though 20oz tank like water so i picked up a 5# that i am using. i cant seen to find any leaks and my reg is brand new from aquatek... reading from threads a 5# should last me a few months

a lot of growth. dealing with some algae issues by raising light in increments. also have some bba but not out of control. i think its from when this tank was lowtech. hc is not really taking off like i want it too but the grass is growing excellent. great color, no algae. i will probably offer a trade soon with these plants because they are so nice.
